EMERGENCY DENTAL CARE | BRISTOL
Toothache, a broken tooth or a dental accident? You don't need to know where to begin. That's what we're here for. When you're in pain, the last thing you want is the worry of finding the right dentist, especially if you haven't seen one for a while or don't have a regular dental practice. If you have your own dentist, they're often a good first point of contact. But if you don't, or you feel your dental problem needs specialist attention, you can come directly to us. At Stoke Lane Dentistry, we bring together a highly experienced team of dental specialists who can diagnose the problem, relieve your pain and work together to repair damaged teeth and restore your smile. Whether you've cracked a tooth, developed severe toothache, suffered an accident or need help with a complex dental problem, you don't have to work out which specialist you need. Our team will guide you.
When it's your child, we understand how frightening it can be.
Few things are more upsetting than seeing your child fall, chip a newly erupted permanent tooth or knock a tooth out altogether.
Dental trauma in children and young people requires particular care and expertise. Knowing what to do quickly can make an important difference to the outcome.
Our team has specialist expertise in managing dental injuries, including damaged, fractured and traumatised teeth. Where treatment requires different areas of dentistry, our specialists can work together to develop a coordinated plan, with the aim of preserving the tooth and restoring your child’s smile wherever possible.
We also understand that children and nervous patients may need extra reassurance. Our calm, supportive approach, together with appropriate sedation options where suitable, can help make treatment less daunting.
One experienced team. The right expertise. A clear way forward.
What makes Stoke Lane different is the expertise we bring together in one place.
Our specialists in endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics and oral surgery can collaborate when a dental problem requires more than one type of treatment.
From diagnosing difficult toothache and saving injured teeth to rebuilding damaged teeth and restoring your smile, we’ll explain your options and help you take the next step.
Whatever your age, whatever the problem, our priority is to get you out of pain, protect your teeth and help you smile with confidence again.
We will do everything possible to arrange a same-day appointment or see you as soon as possible, depending on availability and clinical urgency.
Why choose Stoke Lane Dentistry for an emergency?
Urgent appointments when you need help
Dental emergencies don’t always happen at convenient times. Whether you’re experiencing severe toothache, a broken tooth or a dental injury, we’ll do our best to arrange an urgent appointment, including same-day care wherever possible.
Specialist expertise for complex dental problems
Not every dental emergency is straightforward. Our specialist-led team has experience in diagnosing difficult toothache, treating intricate root canal problems and managing damaged or infected teeth.
Sedation for nervous patients and children
Fear shouldn’t prevent you from seeking necessary dental treatment. We provide a calm, reassuring environment and offer inhalation and IV sedation options where clinically appropriate, with suitability and availability assessed individually
What dental emergencies can we help with?
Severe toothache and persistent dental pain
Severe toothache can be caused by an infected or inflamed tooth nerve, decay, a cracked tooth or a dental abscess.
Our team will investigate the source of your pain and recommend appropriate treatment, which may include root canal treatment, restorative care or extraction when a tooth cannot be saved.
Broken, chipped or fractured teeth
Whether you’ve broken a tooth while eating, playing sport or following an accident, prompt assessment can help prevent further damage.
We can assess the tooth and advise whether it may be repaired, restored with a crown or require more complex treatment.
Cracked teeth and pain when biting
Cracked teeth can be difficult to diagnose because fractures are not always visible during a routine examination.
Our Specialist Endodontist, Dr Armineh Arzandeh, uses advanced dental operating microscopes to examine teeth under high magnification, helping identify fine anatomical details and investigate complex dental pain.
Knocked-out or displaced teeth
If a permanent tooth has been knocked out or moved following an accident, immediate dental attention is important.
Our team can assess dental trauma and advise on the most appropriate treatment, including specialist follow-up where necessary.
Dental abscesses and infections
A dental abscess can cause severe pain, swelling and tenderness.
Prompt assessment helps identify the source of infection and whether root canal treatment, drainage, extraction or other care is required.
Problems following previous dental treatment
If you’re experiencing pain, sensitivity, infection or difficulty following crowns, veneers, root canal treatment or other dental procedures, we can investigate the cause.
We welcome patients who have received dental treatment in the UK or abroad, providing professional, non-judgemental clinical care.
Dental emergencies in children
Children can experience broken teeth, dental injuries, infections and sudden toothache.
Our team understands how distressing these situations can be for children and parents. We aim to provide a calm, reassuring assessment and discuss appropriate treatment, including sedation options where suitable.
Meet Dr Armineh Arzandeh
Specialist Endodontist | Complex Toothache, Root Canal Treatment & Dental Trauma
Having worked in both general and specialist dental practices across Bristol, Dr Armineh Arzandeh understands how distressing severe toothache and dental emergencies can be.
Her clinical practice focuses on endodontics — diagnosing tooth pain, treating infected root canals and helping patients preserve their natural teeth.
This specialist focus gives Armineh extensive experience in managing complex cases, including cracked teeth, persistent infections and teeth with intricate, narrow or difficult-to-locate root canals.
Using advanced dental operating microscopes, she can examine teeth under high magnification and illumination, helping identify anatomical details that may be difficult to see with the naked eye.
Armineh combines specialist clinical expertise with a calm, reassuring approach. She understands that many patients arrive in pain, feeling anxious or uncertain about their treatment, and takes time to explain the diagnosis and available options.
As part of Stoke Lane’s multidisciplinary team, she can collaborate with colleagues in prosthodontics, periodontics and oral surgery when a patient’s dental problem requires expertise from more than one discipline.
Her priority is to find the cause of the problem and give every tooth the best possible chance of being saved.
Emergency dental fees and consultations
The cost of an emergency dental appointment depends on the assessment required and any treatment provided.
Our team can explain the consultation fee when you contact us.
Where further treatment is needed, we’ll discuss the options and anticipated costs before proceeding wherever possible.
Some complex dental emergencies may require an initial assessment and stabilisation appointment followed by separate specialist treatment.
Frequently asked questions about a dental emergency
1. Contact our team
Tell us about your toothache, injury or dental concern. We’ll ask some questions to help determine the urgency of your appointment.
2. Expert assessment and diagnosis
Your clinician will examine the affected area and may carry out appropriate diagnostic tests or imaging to investigate the cause of your symptoms.
3. Clear explanation of your options
We’ll explain what we’ve found, the available treatment options and any relevant costs, so you can make an informed decision.
4. Pain relief and emergency treatment
Depending on the problem, treatment may involve stabilising a damaged tooth, managing infection, root canal treatment, a temporary restoration or another appropriate intervention.
Some problems can be treated at the initial visit, while more complex cases may require further appointments.
5. Ongoing care and follow-up
If additional specialist treatment is needed, we’ll explain the next steps.
If you’ve been referred by your own dentist, we’ll communicate with them and return you to their ongoing care wherever appropriate.
What should I do for severe toothache?
Contact a dentist promptly for assessment. Suitable over-the-counter pain relief may help temporarily when taken according to the instructions, but persistent or severe toothache should be investigated.
What should I do if I’ve broken a tooth?
Keep any broken fragments in milk or saliva if possible and bring them to your appointment. Avoid biting on the damaged tooth until it has been assessed.
What should I do if a permanent tooth has been knocked out?
A knocked-out permanent tooth requires immediate attention.
Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. If dirty, gently rinse it without scrubbing. If possible, carefully reinsert it into the socket and hold it in place.
If reinsertion isn’t possible, keep the tooth moist in milk or an appropriate tooth-preservation solution and seek emergency dental care immediately.
Never attempt to reinsert a knocked-out baby tooth.
What should I do if I have a dental abscess or swelling?
Contact a dentist urgently. If swelling is rapidly worsening or you experience difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek emergency hospital care immediately.
What if I have a serious facial injury?
For uncontrolled bleeding, serious head injury, suspected jaw fracture or breathing difficulties, seek emergency medical care rather than waiting for a dental appointment
Stoke Lane Dentistry aims to offer same-day emergency appointments wherever possible. Availability depends on clinical urgency and appointment capacity. Telephone our team directly to discuss your symptoms
Sedation may be an option for suitable patients who feel particularly anxious about root canal treatment. Dr Armineh Arzandeh is a Specialist Endodontist experienced in treating complex root canal problems. Sedation suitability is assessed individually.
Yes. A Specialist Endodontist has advanced training in diagnosing pain associated with the dental pulp and root canal system. Specialist assessment may be particularly helpful when symptoms are difficult to locate or previous treatment hasn’t resolved the problem
Some cracked teeth can be preserved through restorative or endodontic treatment. Whether a tooth can be saved depends on the extent of the crack, the condition of the tooth and its long-term restorability
Inhalation sedation can help some children feel calmer during dental treatment. Suitability depends on their age, medical history, ability to cooperate and clinical needs
IV sedation may be available for suitable patients undergoing tooth extraction. Your clinician will assess the treatment required and whether sedation is appropriate.
No. We welcome enquiries from new and existing patients, including those referred by another dental practice.
Yes. We can assess pain, infections, damaged restorations and other complications following dental treatment carried out in the UK or overseas. Our focus is clinical diagnosis and treatment, not litigation or assigning blame.
No. Patients can contact Stoke Lane Dentistry directly to request a specialist assessment. We also welcome referrals from general dental practitioners.
Sedation for adults & children
Dental anxiety shouldn't prevent you from getting the care you need. Our experienced team offers IV and inhalation sedation to help make treatment more comfortable and manageable. This could be particularly effective for parents, nervous adults and people who have avoided treatment for years.
